One of the nicest and most scenic ways to get around Boston
is by water transportation. The Airport Water Shuttle
(617-439-3131) takes you from Logan Airport to Rowe’s Wharf on
Atlantic Avenue. This is ideal if you’re staying at the Boston
Harbor Hotel, or Marriot Long Wharf. The water shuttles run
year-round run year-round and are heated and weather safe. The
cost is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors. Kids under 12 sail
free.
From the airport terminal, there is a free shuttle bus that
takes you to the Airport docks. Just board the water
transportation bus (route #66) and two minutes later, you’re
on board. The water shuttles are a pleasant ten-minute ride
through Boston Harbor.
Along with the Airport Water Shuttle, City Water Taxi (617-422-0392)
takes you to stops in East Boston, Charlestown, North
Station, Long Wharf, Museum Wharf and the World Trade Center,
among others. It’s only ten dollars for a ten-minute ride to
your destination.
Harbor Express (617- 376-8417) stops at Long Wharf, as
well as in Quincy, a suburb of Boston. Many locals take the
$11.00 shuttle to Boston instead of commuting by car.
You may also want to contact Boston Harbor Cruises
(617-864-6300) for a variety of chartered cruises. Besides
commuter services, they offer sightseeing, whale watching,
romantic sunset cruises, and other special events. Prices range
from $28 for a 3-hour whale watch, to $2 for a lunch cruise.
They are located at Rowe’s Wharf, which is at the Aquarium
stop on the MBTA blue line.
