9:15 a.m. and cut your wait by making it on the first guided
tour of the day.
FACTS ABOUT THE USS CONSTITUTION MUSEUM
LOCATION: Opposite USS Constitution in Boston National
Historical Park, Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston.
FACILITY: The Museum's main building was constructed
in 1832 and its newly restored addition in 1850. There are three
floors of galleries.
COLLECTION: More than 3,000 artifacts, prints,
paintings, crew members' personal gear, Federal Period naval
small arms, souvenirs related to the ship's travels and
restorations, flags, uniforms, and ship models; and more than
5,000 photographs, and a 1,600-volume Research Library housing
historic documents and manuscripts.
MAJOR EXHIBITS: Old Ironsides in War & Peace, a
ground-breaking retrospective of USS Constitution's 200-year
history. Around the World Aboard OldIronsides, a collection of
exotic artifacts and crew members' journals chronicling the
ship's 1844-1846 around-the-world diplomatic voyage.
